Our Crowns Are Yours — a Sonnet from Revelation 4

Revelation 4:10-11 and Luke 17:10

CROSS & CROWN

The two twelve elders fall on worsh’ping knee
‘For God on throne, to worship Him who stays
Forever’n ever, casting crowns and praise,
“Because of Your will all things came to be.”
So worthy God gets praise and pow’r we see,
And glory, honor. All our voices raise.
(For He alone did plan and make our ways
To please.) Let others do as unto Thee.
“Our crowns are Yours, for we are but your work
And lay no claim to anything we’ve done:
The will, the heart, the longing to do good —
You gave, perhaps the Satan-friend to irk?”
The mystery of God is His alone.
Unworthy servants did but what they should.
